EWF appointed to Consultative Board on the World Cocoa Economy

At the ┬ámeeting of the ICCO Council in Bali in March 2013 EWF was appointed to the Consultative Board on the World Cocoa Economy. The International Cocoa Organisation ICCO is an Intergovernemtal Organisation for the cocoa sector, composed of cocoa producing and cocoa consuming nations. The private sector and NGO’s are involved through the Consultative Board, whose mandate is to act in an advisory capacity to the International Cocoa Council on a whole range of subjects concerning the cocoa economy.

The selection of EWF for the new council, elected for the 2013/2013 and 2013/2014 cocoa years, is a formalisation of the good cooperation between warehousekeepers and the ICCO. Members of EWF provide the statistical material for the annual ICCO publications on the world cocoa stock. ICCO has also publised a document on good practices for warehousekeepers, drafted in cooperation with EWF.

The new Consultative Board constists of 26 members representing private sector organisations in both producing and consuming countries as well as NGO’s.
